7-11 Chicken Wings

I like chicken wings. I like them so much that many of my previous posts are about visiting restaurants in the area on my bike and reviewing their wings.

0828181657_HDRI was in a hurry, and hungry the other day, being between shifts on the NYS Thruway. I saw these “pecan wood smoked flavored” wings at the 7-11 and thought I would try them.

They were around $4.50 for five of them, not what I would call cheap. Once I got the box I stuffed my nose in the crack. My smeller told me there was a boiled hot dog in the box. My brain said no, that we just watched him put wings in it.

I don’t like hot dogs much. It is rare that I will eat one.

0828181657Ever wonder how somebody could possibly screw up that badly? This is one of those times. How do you get a chicken wing to taste like a hot dog I will never know.

Not gonna do that again.

Get Paid to Sticker Your Car?

More than likely not.

car advertising

Ever been on Facebook and seen an ad that said you could make money to drive your car? I thought it deserved a look. A good article from the Penny Hoarder said that many of these are a scam. If you still want to think about it, it does give legit options, and there would be a good place to start looking. Click the link for more.

Elantra Done

0814181601As stated in a previous post, I bought a 2015 Hyundai Elantra with the purpose to set it up to be dingy towed. I am happy to report that it is now done!

Of course we picked a hot day. One hour into the project and I was soaked through in my own juices.

First step was to drill out the plate the tow bar attached to. Why it didn’t come with the two holes it needed was beyond me.

Once that was done bolting up the bar was simple.

The fun part of the job was running wires to the back of the car for the lights. I wanted to keep it clean so it will use the car’s taillights instead of magnetic externals.

First find a hole in the firewall the wire can go through, then run it under the kick molding to keep people from tripping on it. Go under the back seat, then strip out the molding in the trunk.

If you don’t have a wiring diagram, you can use a test light to find out what wires power what. If you have a three wire system (one for driving lights, one for brake, one for turn) don’t make the same mistake I did. Leave the turn alone. The tail lights will still flash with your foot on the brake for turns and you don’t want the turn signals to come on when the brake is applied.

8-15-18 (1)The kit comes with diodes that keep power from feeding back into the car, and for some reason (once again) that is important so use them.

8-15-18 (3)Here it is, done. Tie up any loose wires.

8-15-18 (2)Once the car was done and put back together, we made a harness to go from the RV to the car. If you buy one they are like, eighty bucks. I spent enough on this project. I got a seven prong male RV plug and a small six post round male and female.

Using some extra wire and a loom from Napa Auto Parts, we made one for a significant savings.

I hope to soon deliver my first motor home. More to come.

Blues and Bikes Night at Native Pride

8-9-18 blues night (17)If you like blues music, which I love, and motorcycles, guilty again, Thursday nights at Native Pride are the place to be. Located on Rt. 20 on the Res and showcasing excellent blues bands, it has all the things one would expect from a Native American truck stop, like smokes, food, fuel, Arizona Tea cans.

8-9-18 blues night (9)This is not the first show. They have been doing it all summer, but I have just been busy, or too lazy, to talk about it. They do have all of my favorite things!

Bike count has gone down though. The first day it was packed and now it is a bit wanting for bikes, so if you happen to be around on Thursday, show up.

I was upset that Gowanda Harley Davidson was not there this week. I intended to piss them off by winning the smoke show with my 1984 Honda GoldWing. I here they will be around next week.

8-9-18 blues night (13)Still there are rockin’ blues and nice bikes to look at.

8-9-18 blues night (11)And no, being at a bike show didn’t stop me from snapping a few pics of this awesome Cutlass, even if I couldn’t track down the owner.

Panama Rocks

No, I am not talking about the Van Halen song. Not that Van Halen doesn’t rock.

But in case you can’t help yourself…Reach down…between my legs…ease the seat back…

Panama Rocks is a tourist trap out in the middle of nowhere, the Chautauqua Lake region of Western New York. It has a mile long hiking trail that goes around a bunch of…you guessed it…rocks.

I’m not gonna do a lot of research for you, if interested in knowing more, go here. https://www.panamarocks.com 0806181352

I took my youngest daughter and her cousin. You can see how big some of these are as compared to a 12 and 8 year old.

It is really pretty there and a good time if you got a couple bucks and kids with too much energy. Climbing the rocks should help wear them out. It was really hot that day but some of the rock formations had cool breezes coming out of them. Bring some water and closed toe shoes.

0806181353There is not a lot to do there, but the nature lover in you, and maybe the scientist, will be happy you went. I am not used to hiking and I did the trail no problem. Just watch the rocks and the tree roots. Like I said, it was really hot that day so by the time I was done I was soaked in my own juices. In the picture I already found some water from the men’s room and dumped it on my head.

Newish Car

I bought a 2015 Hyundai Elantra.  I am not bragging about it really. Not a GTO, after all.

I got it for business reasons. It is my hope that my days at the New York State Thruway Authority as a toll collector are about done. My new dream job, since being a fat, lazy author isn’t panning out, is to deliver new motor homes to the dealers.

In truth, I have been thinking about doing this for quite some time, and only of late has things come together enough for me to do it.

So, what does one do after he spends $15,000 on a car? If you guessed rip the front bumper off, you where right!

I went on line and bought all the supplies to dingy…

Huh Huh

He said dingyButt-head

…tow the car behind a motor home. Perverts. etrailer.com has all the stuff you need for pulling something or the other down the road. After removing the fascia, the front bumper needs to go.0807182102

Once that is done the new part can be installed. It is what the tow bar will hook up to. A bit of swearing, (mostly looking for tools in the mess that is Rob’s garage) came into play but the job isn’t that bad. 0807182354

Once the tow bar is put on we plan to weld the feet in.
